Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vintage 2001

Our vintages : Châteauneuf du Pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape White 2001: Light yellow, aromas of peach in syrup, apricot in sugar, slightly menthol. Very ripe attack, ample and generous wine.  Still on the fruit, white peach type.

A wine of meal more than of aperitif, will accompany white meat or goat cheese.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red 2001: They are endowed with beautiful purple color, tending towards the dark violet. On the nose, we note aromas of black cherry jam characteristic of grenache harvested in on maturity. Then come wilder perfumes, such as truffle and laurel. Ample and generous, their attack is rich, suave, velvety. Tannins are very present but are melted in a

does not give way to black fruit (prunes).

We are certainly in the presence of a very, very large vintage, in the same line as the 98, 90, 89 and 78 to mention only the most recent ones that have made (and still make) the happiness of the oenophiles of the whole world. A vintage of great guard (30/ 40 years) that we can already appreciate for its delicacy and its silky side.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2001 – Special cuvées: Generally made with a high proportion of black grenache (85 to 95%), these special cuvées are distinguished not only by the obvious over maturity of this typically Mediterranean grape variety, but also by aromas of chocolate, cherries with brandy, figs and black fruit. Tannins are still young, even if they are sometimes melted. It would be good to wait until 2006 before beginning to taste them with knowledge of their immense storage potential (30/40 years).
