Grape Variety Châteauneuf-du-Pape

In addition to the favourable environmental conditions, Châteauneuf-du-Pape boasts a certain number of intelligent people with unsurpassed know-how. Over the centuries, the standard usage of thirteen different grape varieties have produced an aromatic balance confirmed by connoisseurs. There are eight red varieties: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Counoise, Vaccarèse, Muscardin, and the Terret Noir, and five white varieties: Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Picpoul and Picardan.

Today, the Grenache Noir is the most dominant variety for the reds along with the Syrah and the Mourvèdre.

As for the Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and the Roussanne, they are the most common for making the white Châteauneuf wines.
